Anne Baan Hofman

ABOUT

My name is Anne and I teach yoga, ELDOA and meditation, these are the means through which I creatively explore movement and stillness for you to take a healthy break from your busy day and feel more space in the body and mind.

I am a certified 500hr Yoga Teacher at Naada Yoga Montreal, as well as ELDOA level 1,2 & 3, I participated in various workshop such as: Donna Farhi’s Empowerment through Interoception, Jules Mitchell’s Yoga Biomechanics, and Leslie Howard’s Pelvic Floor Yoga.

Accessible to both beginners and more experienced yogi, I approach yoga asana through the basics of breath, movement, and mindful practice, aiming to restore both the body and the mind. Classes are bracketed by relaxing warm-up and cool-down; conscious physical exertion stems from a place of calm, and a sense of safety in oneself and within the group; only then can the body energize and discover its inner strength.

Through verbal cues and gentle physical assists, I aim to acknowledge the potential of each individual body, encouraging playfulness, curiosity, and adaptability within poses to accommodate maximum comfort within the challenge of exercise.

ELDOA

ELDOA translates to the English acronym LOADS: Longitudinal Osteo Articular Decoaptation Stretches. It is a method of postural exercises, created by French osteopath Guy Voyer designed to create space within a specific joint - the spine, shoulder, hip etc.

After a proper warm-up at the start of a one-hour class, about five ELDOA postural exercises are combined with yoga movements and breath awareness, these postures are held to place the fascia (connective tissue) in tension and target a space within a specific joint to restore balance.

ELDOA can result in pain reduction, increased blood flow, improvement in joint mechanics, better muscle tone, improved posture, spinal disc rehydration, disc decompression and more.

For more information, please read my article ‘What is ELDOA?’.

MEDITATION

In Anne’s meditation sessions, we practice becoming aware of the movements of our minds through breath and body sensations; only with awareness can we start to notice what is happening in the present moment.

A meditation practice has the potential to result in more patience, better sleep, improved communication skills, less stress, etc. You might also start to enjoy seemingly mundane moments, like waiting for a red traffic light or brushing your teeth, as they become opportunities to experience the here and now.

ONE-ON-ONE

One-on-One sessions are a great way to explore movement or meditation in a personalized, guided and safe way.

Diving deeper to feed your curiosity, or taking a step back due to physical or emotional experiences; you decide the pace of the session. Anne offers private (pre- and post-natal) yoga, ELDOA and meditation. All three practices can also be beautifully combined in one session.

If you are curious, have questions or aren’t sure this is for you, don’t hesitate to reach out.
